Jerome Bayer was born in San Francisco, California on December 8, 1897 to Joseph Bayer and Augusta Schlesinger. He was a member of Congregation Ohabai Shalome. After he graduated from the city's Lowell High School, he then attended and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. He relocated to New York City where he worked as a musician, social worker, dramatist, and an educator. During WWII he worked with the USO as a theater consultant and over the years he had many positions in theater across the US. He passed away on July 2, 1992.
